FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have acquired defensive lineman Michael Bennett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. Terms of the trade were not announced.

Bennett, 33, is a veteran of 10 NFL seasons with Tampa Bay (2009-12), Seattle (2013-17) and Philadelphia (2018). He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Seattle on April 26, 2009, out of Texas A&M. The 6-foot-4, 274-pounder has appeared in 141 regular-season games with 100 starts and totaled 327 tackles, 63 sacks, six passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He has also played in 12 postseason contests with 10 starts and tallied 43 tackles, 4½ sacks, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Bennett was a member of the Super Bowl XLVIII Champion and 2014 NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks teams.

Bennett made the Seattle 53-man roster as a rookie but was released in October and claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay. After four seasons with the Buccaneers, he signed with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent. Bennett was traded from Seattle to Philadelphia on March 13, 2018.

Last season with the Eagles, Bennett played in all 16 regular-season games with 10 starts and posted 34 tackles, was second on the team with nine sacks, defensed one pass and forced two fumbles. He also started in both of Philadelphia’s playoff games and had seven tackles and one sack.
