Owen Sound dog fatally beaten in break-in – BlackburnNews.com

A west side Owen Sound resident returned home Wednesday evening to find their home had been broken into, and their dog was severely injured.

The homeowner called 911 at around 7 p.m., and shortly after that police received a call from an injured male at another west side residence.

Owen Sound police investigators determined the man was the suspect in the break-in and dog attack.

The dog was taken to the vet with severe wounds caused by blows to the head and body, but it succumbed to its injuries.

Police apprehended at a 23-year-old male suspect who was taken to hospital for treatment. The Owen Sound man remains in custody and faces charges of break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and cruelty to an animal
