The singer claimed he was upset with the Duke and Duchess for not celebrating the festive season with Her Majesty, 93, because she may not have many left. The royal couple have instead decided to spend the holidays in the US with Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother. Sir Rod, 73, criticised the couple over their plans for a Californian Christmas, instead of going to the Queen’s Sandringham estate, Norfolk.
Speaking to a magazine, he said: “The Queen is 93. I flew round the world to be with my mum and dad at Christmas because I knew they didn’t have many left.
“I was disappointed Harry and Meghan decided not to spend Christmas with the Queen.”
The veteran singer is a dad of eight and his parents died in the 90s.
He added: “If I was Harry, I’d think there was plenty of time in the future to have Christmases on my own or with Meghan’s mum.”

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan claimed the Sussex’ decision is a “clear snub to the queen”.
Harry and Meghan are currently having a six-week break from Royal duties.
The couple are having some “much-needed” family time together.
They have just spent Thanksgiving with Doria in an undisclosed location.

It will be their first Christmas with their son Archie who was born in May.
A palace spokesman said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.
“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.
“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are expected to spend Christmas Day with the Queen at Sandringham with their three children.
They were reportedly “relieved” the couple are taking some time out of the spotlight.
A friend of William told Closer Weekly how the Prince accepts Harry’s decision but may find it “strange” not having his brother with him on Christmas Day.
The source said: “William and Kate are somewhat relieved that they won’t be at Sandringham.

“William does, however, feel that it’ll be strange not having his brother around.”
Harry is thought to have missed only one Christmas with his grandmother and the wider Royal Family in the past.
In 2012 the Duke of Sussex was stationed in Afghanistan where he spent the festive season with fellow troops.
Their pause in royal duties comes after Harry and Meghan spoke candidly about their struggles in an ITV documentary shot during a 10-day tour of southern Africa in September.
Meghan admitted her first year as a royal wife and mother had been a “struggle” while her husband spoke of friction with William.
