Megan Barton Hanson has said she thought ex Wes Nelson was ‘The One’ and vowed to never date another person in the public eye again following their shock split last week.

Now writing in this week’s Grazia Magazine, the 24-year-old reality beauty admitted that the two ‘amicably’ parted ways following seven months together because they had ‘different priorities’.

The ITV star explained how it had ‘been a difficult few weeks’ in the lead up to her and Wes’ break-up after their flat was broken into, then she contracted a kidney infection and ended up in hospital.

Never again: Megan Barton Hanson has said she thought ex Wes Nelson was ‘The One’ and vowed that she would never date another person in the public eye again

She shared: ‘Break-ups in the public eye are horrible, it seems like there’s always one person who tries to vilify the other. But there’s no need for it.

‘It all ended very amicably. I really love Wes as a person, but we realised we are in very different stages of our lives and our priorities are different. I’m 24 and by the time I’m 30 I want to be engaged. Wes is only 20. He’s living his best life.’

The blonde bombshell said that she’s been left heartbroken by the split and now worries that she’ll never meet the ‘right person’ as she vows to never date someone in the public eye.

She shared: ‘I really thought he was The One and that we’d be together forever. I wanted a serious relationship, so it’s heartbreaking for me that it didn’t work out.

‘I also feel disappointed for the people who invested in us. I am hopeful for the future, although I do worry about finding the right person. I don’t want people to approach me because I’m “Megan from Love Island.”

Adding: ‘I just want someone who is nice, normal and grounded. I am positive that I will meet someone who loves me for me, but I never want to date a person in the public eye ever again. It’s just so much pressure and it’s even more painful when it ends.’

Paying tribute to her ex, Megan insisted that she will ‘always love Wes’ and vouched that ‘whoever ends up with him is very lucky’.

Her latest interview comes the reality star said she ‘still loves Wes’, but shared that he is ‘wrapped up in the fame bubble’ and ‘doesn’t love her back.’

Speaking in an interview with this week’s OK! magazine, the Love Island star also blasted Dancing On Ice bosses for ‘deliberately stirring things up’ by partnering Wes with professional German skater Vanessa Bauer.

Speaking about why the pair split, Megan revealed: ‘Our ambitions and goals in life are very different. Wes is younger than me and wrapped up in the fame bubble – but I still love him, which is why it hurts so much.

‘I fought and fought and fought for Wes but he doesn’t love me back,’ claimed the blonde bombshell.

Wes – who is currently competing in ITV’s Dancing On Ice – was partnered with petite beauty Vanessa Bauer and Megan didn’t hide her annoyance over their partnership.

She said: ‘The fact that the producers deliberately stirred things up by partnering Wes with the youngest, hottest girl annoyed me.’

Opinions: Megan first shared this post about Vanessa on Instagram last month, which ignited their feud. She reiterated her thoughts on the skater in subsequent interviews

She didn’t hold back on the topic, reasserting her belief that Vanessa’s break-up with her own boyfriend Louis Nathaniel was ‘completely tactical.’

Megan caused their feud to spill over into the public sphere when she wrote on Instagram: ‘Love that you decide to announce your break-up with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!

‘You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce your self to me last night you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL. Hope the tactical break-up got you the headlines you wanted babe.’ [sic]

She was mad that Vanessa didn’t reach out to her, claiming she got the best of Wes due to his intense training schedule, and said she wanted to be on the ice with him.
