LOVE Island fans have slammed the show as a fix after Anton and Belle were dumped from the villa just hours after meeting each other’s families.
The Scottish personal trailer and the makeup artist had been one of the favourite couples in the villa after their rocky start but it was clearly not meant to be after an emotional episode.
On the penultimate day in the villa, they found themselves voted out by their fellow contestants with three couples in the bottom.
As host Caroline Flack entered the villa and announced a couple would be leaving, Anton told Belle: “We’re fine.”
But as Amber and Greg and Molly-Mae and Tommy were announced as being safe, the remaining couples’ places were put up to the vote from the public.
Maura and Curtis and India and Ovie both were saved meaning Belle and Anton were sent home with Caroline breaking the news.
She said: “The final couple saved by the public and taking their place in the final is… Maura and Curtis.”
Fans called it a fix immediately.
One wrote: “ABSOLUTE FIX BY PRODUCERS!!! Anton and Belle should have stayed ffs #LoveIsland!
A second said: “Naaaaa surely this couldn’t be anymore of a fix 😂😂😂 I like Maura but I didn’t think anyone was keen on Curtis and everyone loves Belle and Anton 🤨 make it make sense #loveisland”
Another added: “Belle and anton didn’t get as many votes out from the other islanders as maura and curtis… is this a fix i smell? #LoveIsland”
It was just hours after emotion swept the villa when the islander’s families visited the villa to reunite with their children – but it wasn’t altogether a joyous occasion.
Fans were left shocked when Maura’s mum made it crystal clear she was not a fan of Curtis, telling Maura only that she trusted her to do the right thing.
Curtis’ mum meanwhile couldn’t even bring herself to get Maura’s name correct and instead called her Moira throughout the episode.
And while most of the couples had emotional reunions with their families and touched viewers’ hearts, Molly-Mae’s mum made a terrible impression on fans after repeatedly putting her daughter down.
She told her daughter: “He’s too good for you.”
But things ended nicely as Belle’s dad Tamer ended up welcoming him into the family – just days after revealing he wanted to “knock his head off”.
After being dumped from the villa, Anton and Belle have decided to keep seeing each other with him taking her out in London when they arrive back in the UK next week.
