Lee Ryan has reportedly pulled out of his titular role in an Aladdin pantomime amid claims he disappeared during a show interval to go to a pub on Friday.

The Blue singer, 35, who was due to perform at London‘s New Wimbledon Theatre until January 6, has missed every performance since he unexpectedly left the show earlier that week.

According to The Sun, the Strictly Come Dancing star has been a ‘regular’ at the theatre’s local pub during his short stint, which also features Paul Merton as Widow Twankey.

He’s out: Lee Ryan has reportedly pulled out of his titular role in an Aladdin pantomime amid claims he disappeared during a show interval to go to a pub on Friday

Speaking on his exit, a source told the publication: ‘Lee really struggled with his singing. Paul Merton ad-libbed a joke about Blue and you could tell Lee got prickly.

‘After the interval there was an announcement that his understudy would be taking over.’

A representative told The Sun that he has missed shows due to a ‘chest infection which affects his voice’. MailOnline has contacted Lee’s representatives for further comment.

On Sunday, the singer looked poorly as he confirmed he’d been suffering from a chest infection.

He captioned the image: ‘Chest infection suck, not happy… Yuk yuk yuk… can’t even talk – let alone sing.’ [sic]

Fans took to Twitter to comment on the belter’s shock departure, with an angered follower penning: ‘@NewWimbTheatre why have you made no effort to announce that Lee Ryan is not performing? And why when I rang ATG they claim not to know of any reason why he shouldn’t be there? I nearly travelled a long way for nothing- if it weren’t for a friend telling me I wouldn’t have known!’

Star-studded: The production boasts a line-up of the UK’s finest talent, including Paul Merton as Widow Twankey

Another confused social media user wrote: ‘@NewWimbTheatre great performance at the Panto today…but where was Lee Ryan??’

A third added: ‘@NewWimbTheatre A friend of mine is due to see the pantomime tomorrow, and she’s going especially to see Lee Ryan who hasn’t been well. We are assuming he’s still not well enough to perform tomorrow???’

Ahead of his stint, the All Rise hitmaker discussed his love for theatre in an interview with Essential Surrey, and shared his hopes to develop his acting career in the future.

He explained: ‘My mum always took my sister and I when we were kids and I’ve made sure I’ve kept that tradition alive in my family too.

‘It’s so important. It starts a love affair with live theatre and entertainment that will hopefully last a lifetime.’

The singer, who attended Sylvia Young Theatre School, also spoke about his positive outlook on the new year: ‘I’d want health and happiness for my family; I’d want the panto to be a huge success, and I’d want more dancing lessons for 2019.’
