The 58th edition of the biennale kicks off tomorrow. Art tourists face a ludicrously packed calendar of overblown festivities. “May you live in interesting times” is the theme chosen by the artistic director, Ralph Rugoff. The first interesting fact you will probably learn is that this is, in fact, not the Chinese curse that it is purported to be. The Chinese never said it. Its origin is English.
