NEW DELHI: Indian pace bowler
has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa owing to minor stress fracture in his lower back. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named
as Bumrah’s replacement for the series starting October 2 in Visakhapatnam.
Bumrah’s injury was detected during a routine radiological screening. He will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA and will be monitored by the BCCI medical team.
Umesh, who last played a Test against Australia in December 2018, has played 41 matches and taken 119 wickets at an average of 33.47.
Bumrah has featured in 12 Test matches so far, in which he has scalped 62 wickets at an average of 19.24, thus becoming the linchpin of Indian bowling unit.
