Love Island stars could be allowed to watch World Cup final

  • The fourth series of Love Island, which began on June 4, is nearing a conclusion
  • While appearing on the show, cast members are cut off from the rest of the world
  • As such, they have not been able to see England’s 2018 World Cup performance

The Love Island cast have been missing out on England’s stellar performance in the 2018 World Cup, but that may be about to change.

Rosie Williams, a former contestant on the show, told Metro she and the guys in the house tried everything they could to find out World Cup scores.

‘The boys, and me as well, we would try and find out the scores but no one would tell us anything,’ she told the outlet. ‘And we asked if we could possibly watch it but [they said] no.’

She explained: ‘In Love Island you are just in the villa with no contact from outside world so watching football would be some contact.’

Given England’s success in the 2018 World Cup, some fans were curious if ITV2 may change their policy for the final — if they make it that far, anyway.

A spokesperson for the network told Metro: ‘They haven’t watched it, they aren’t aware of the results, and there are no current plans for them to see it.’

Whether England win or lose may not affect the cast of Love Island, but it will affect the show’s air time.

Tonight’s episode, for example, has been pushed back until 9:30pm BST. As long as England’s match against Croatia doesn’t go to extra time and/or penalties, the show will air as planned in full.

According to Express, a new cast member called Alexandra Cane will be entering the Love Island villa during tonight’s episode.
