Emmerdale fans were shocked when Cain and Charity Dingle snogged – despite them being cousins.
The pair have some history, as technically they have been together before when they were younger, leaving Charity to give birth to their daughter Debbie when she was only a teenager.
Of course, back then, the pair had no idea they were related, but it was made clear when Cain found out his actual father was Zak Dingle, the brother of Charity’s dad Obadiah.
Now that the pair know they are cousins, one might think they would keep apart for fear of upsetting the applecart.
But apparently not.
In a weak moment, Cain had a few too many taken (in the drinks department) and was wallowing in sorrow after he attacked his wife Moira, and she left.
He had been given a warning by her son Matty to leave the farm, but was totally shocked and upset when Matty left after shouting at him.
Following this, Charity drew the short straw and was forced to try and make Cain feel better, and get to the bottom of why he and Debbie had fallen out.
As they were talking Charity took his hand, trying to help him feel better, but sadly thing got worse when he leant in for a cheeky snog.
The snog did NOT go down well, as Charity shoved him away, saying: “What’re you doing, do you know I just got engaged?”
Cain then replied: “Like that means anything.
“You don’t want Little Miss Sunshine, do you? You’ll get bored in five seconds flat.”
But Charity was not having any of it – and neither were the viewers as they remembered exactly how the pair were related.
One said: “think about how DESPERATE charity was to be with cain after she got out of prison. BEYOND desperate. embarrassingly so, she would have done anything and yet she said no today … rip chain. incest lives don’t matter in 2019 thankfully. emmerdale told me so.”
Another briefly said: “incest”
A third discussed the confusion, adding: “I really love Cain and Charity together. Not romantically but just as weird sort of family/friends/soulmates in a not-romantic sense. They’re just so weirdly matched? It works so well. # Emmerdale”
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm and again at 8pm on Thursdays on ITV.
