Coronation Street featured a secret nod to the show’s real-life brothers on tonight’s episode (April 17).
Ruthless loan shark Rick Neelan (played by Greg Wood) was seen in his office with a football calendar behind him, featuring a picture of Weatherfield County player Tommy Orpington.
Tommy, who makes regular guest appearances on the cobbles, is played by Greg Wood’s real-life brother Matt Milburn. The pair have never crossed paths in Weatherfield, so the special Easter Egg is as close as they’ve come to sharing the screen.
Meanwhile, things went from bad to worse for Gary Windass, as he continued to do Rick’s dirty work.
Tonight was his first day working as a debt collector for Rick and on his first assignment he was paired with a woman named Sharon to visit a client.
But unbeknownst to Gary, a suspicious Sarah had followed him and saw him wearing a suit and getting into the van with Sharon.
Gary and Sharon’s client turned out to be Tyler Jefferies‘ mum Vicky and when she wasn’t able to pay up, Sharon turned violent.
Disgusted by what he was seeing, Gary shoved Sharon into a cupboard and ordered Vicky to run away.
Fearing he had put his family in danger, Gary then made a frantic call to Sarah, telling her not to go home. However, Sarah was in the Rovers with her mum and missed Gary’s message.
Later, Gary went to see a furious Rick who told him he still owes him £11k, but he’s now also responsible for Vicky’s debts after what happened at the house.
Rick then proceeded to give Gary a severe beating, even pushing his bloodied face up against the picture of Tommy.
But luckily Gary was able to escape, after he was shown some unexpected mercy by Sharon when Rick left.
And it looks as if there could be even more trouble for Gary coming up, as Sarah heard from Nick about a theory that the factory roof could have been sabotaged, meaning Gary may be in the frame.
