Coronation Street lovebirds Nicola Thorp and Charlie de Melo have reportedly split after a whirlwind 10-month romance.
The co-stars started dating after working together on the ITV soap, but are now said to have gone their separate ways.
Nicola, 30, has recently returned to the soap in her role as murderous Pat Phelan’s daughter Nicola Rubenstein, while 28-year-old Charlie plays suave solicitor Imran Habeeb.
They had been close friends for around 10 years before sparking up a romance during their time together on the cobbles.
But now, it’s said that they called it quits just before Christmas.
A source told The Sun : “Sadly Nicola and Charlie decided to cool things after growing apart.
“Nicola’s brief departure from the soap earlier this summer put a strain on their relationship, even though she’s returned to the cobbles now.
“They’ve decided to remain pals – although they aren’t hanging out as much platonically as they did before they were a couple.”
The insider added that they’re happy to remain as they are as long as things don’t get awkward between them at work.
Nicola revealed last Autumn that she was a bit jealous watching her boyfriend be offered a threesome by characters Leanne and Toyah Battersby on the show.
She said: “Let’s just say I get very, very jealous of Charlie because Georgia [Taylor, who plays Toyah] and Jane [Danson, who plays Leanne] and are absolutely gorgeous. He’s a lucky man.”
Mirror Online has contacted Nicola and Charlie’s representatives for comment.
