Chelsea 0-0 Wolves LIVE: Premier League score and updates, Arsenal vs Man Utd build-up – Express

Hazard smashed the ball past Rui Patricio in the 92nd minute after constant pressure from the home side, who are bidding for a top-four place.

Chelsea had been stunned in the 57th minute when Jimenez burst out of defence with Diogo Jota and the pair sliced through Chelsea’s ranks before the Portuguese laid off the ball from wide for Jimenez to slot home.

Patricio made a sharp save shortly afterwards from striker Gonzalo Higuain and another from Willian in the dying minutes. Chelsea had 22 shots to the visitors’ two and also enjoyed 76 percent of possession.

The result leaves Chelsea in sixth, level with Arsenal and behind Manchester United who are playing each other later on Sunday.

FT: It’s Adama Traore with the final chance of the game that he scuffs wide. Maurizio Sarri looks furious with the result – but in fairness he’s lucky to escape with a point!

CHELSEA 1-1 WOLVES | HAZARD

92: What would Chelsea do without Eden Hazard?

The Belgian international looks to have rescued a point for Chelsea. He unleashes a beautifully clean strike from outside the area that squeezes past Patricio.

Two minutes to find a winner…

90: Azpilicueta lines one up from range but Boly blocks. There will be four minutes of stoppage time for Chelsea to rescue something from this.

89: Change for Wolves. Adama Traore replaces Raul Jimenez for the closing stages. The Mexico international takes an eternity to leave the field, obviously.

88: Great strength from Hudson-Odoi to fend off a robust challenge from Jonny. He spreads the ball out wide for Willian, who cuts inside and fizzes one at goal. Patricio saves well.

85: Where’s this wave of Chelsea pressure? Eden Hazard has embarked on a few darting runs but nothing to cause any real problems for the Wolves defence.

Precious little sign of revival from Maurizio Sarri’s side.

83: Wolves make a change with Diogo Jota replaced by Gibbs-White. No pressure mate…

80: OK, Chelsea have ten minutes to salvage something here.

79: Booked! Antonio Rudiger booked for a bodycheck on Diogo Jota. Quite an open and shut case that. Same goes for Jota, who leads with the arm on David Luiz.

76: The Brazilian steps up… blocked for a corner, which is headed behind by Raul Jimenez. Surely the MOTM award is going his way.

75: Willy Boly booked for an inanely rash challenge on Ruben Loftus-Cheek. That’s gifted Chelsea a free-kick in a central position just outside the penalty area.

73: Willian’s first involvement is to crash a free-kick against the first man. More abysmal set-piece taking.

70: Huge cheers as Maurizio Sarri withdraws Jorginho. Willian takes his place for the closing 20 minutes. Would have considered Olivier Giroud myself…

Anyway, Chelsea aren’t exactly throwing the kitchen sink at Wolves – who are finding this all a bit easy.

68: Booked! Saiss is the second name in the book for tugging back Eden Hazard. Antonio Rudiger rises highest for the free-kick but can’t direct his header on target.

65: Chelsea fans delighted with the introduction of Callum Hudson-Odoi for Pedro.

62: Two massive chances for Chelsea go begging. The first is a fierce snapshot from Pedro that Rui Patricio tips over the crossbar.

The second is a flick-on inside the Wolves penalty area that Gonzalo Higuain fails to convert from two yards away. It just comes too quickly for the Argentine international.

59: Mateo Kovacic replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Chelsea nearly respond instantly through Gonzalo Higuain, who swivels on the edge of the box and fires on target. Portugal international goalkeeper Rui Patricio saves well.

CHELSEA 0-1 WOLVES | JIMENEZ

56: This is what happens when you don’t make your chances count!

Chelsea, who have had 76 percent possession, are behind to Wolves courtesy of a Raul Jimenez opener at Stamford Bridge!

The moves starts deep inside Wolves territory with Diogo Jota bringing the ball forward. He plays the reverse pass to Raul Jimenez, whose first touch deflects off Cesar Azpilicueta and the ball dribbles slowly into the net.

53: Big decision from referee Michael Oliver! Doherty clips Hazard’s heels INCHES outside the penalty area. The full-back, who’s already on a caution, is given a warning.

David Luiz steps up… straight into the wall. Not his finest.

51: There’s a few warning signs for Chelsea here with Wolves growing in confidence. The hosts have been sluggish since the re-start and fans aren’t particularly impressed. I wonder what Maurizio Sarri says to them in the dressing room?

48: Conor Coady and David Luiz have something in common. They have both attempted this diagonal 50-yard pass about 20 times. Quite infuriating to watch when it doesn’t come off – which is all the time thus far.

CHELSEA 0-0 WOLVES

45: The Manchester United players have arrived at the Emirates ahead of their showdown. Fancy Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to continue the momentum.

Back here in West London – a small child banging in a penalty and celebrating with a cartwheel has been the highlight.

CHELSEA 0-0 WOLVES

HT: Well that was drab. Boos as the half-time whistle goes – nobody was entertained after the opening 10 minutes.

45: Agitated boos and whistles around Stamford Bridge. Fans are growing tired of the pretty passing from their side.

“Come on Chelsea!” is the chant from supporters. I think that works on more than one level…

43: One heck of a finish from Saiss – shame Michael Oliver had blown his whistle 30 seconds earlier. The Wolves midfielder uses his arm to control a cross field pass before thundering a half-volley past Kepa Arrizabalaga with virtually no back-lift.

41: Not a lot going on…

38: Booked! Doherty is the first booking of the afternoon. He trips Hazard on the left channel but the resulting free-kick is dismal.

I’ve watched Chelsea nearly every week this season – and the set-piece delivery simply hasn’t been good enough.

35: Mateo Kovacic sends ANOTHER through ball intended for Eden Hazard straight into touch. Third time today…

33: Well for all their possession – Chelsea haven’t properly tested Rui Patricio yet. Blues fans are probably bored of hearing that under Maurizio Sarri.

Wolves are dealing with everything rather comfortably.

30: Penalty appeal! Jimenez is back to defend a corner and comically swings a boot at the terrible delivery. He slices the clearance against his own arm before finally hacking it clear.

Referee Michael Oliver isn’t interested. Nor am I – I don’t think he could do that again if he tried!

28: Ouch! From that Kante clearance Chelsea go close and Wolves pick up a few causalities.

Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross is glanced wide by Gonzalo Higuain at the near post while Saiss and Coady have a clash of heads. Both are up and about after a quick squirt of water.

25: N’Golo to the rescue after Kovacic gifts Wolves the ball just outside the Chelsea penalty area. Kante sorts out the mess before firing the ball forward for Pedro.

23: It’s now 74 percent possession from Chelsea, but Wolves are proving extremely difficult to break down. I don’t know why that’s surprising – been the same all season.

Anyway, Jorginho gets a little round of applause for a nice bit of play in the middle of the park.

20: Eden Hazard has shown a few glimpses of brilliance. His latest was to side-step past Neves like he wasn’t there before scooping the ball over to Pedro, who can’t outfox Coady.

17: Chelsea are still bossing the possession charts. It’s 67/33 after 17 minutes at Stamford Bridge. The visitors haven’t been able to assert themselves yet, it’s all one-way traffic.

14: Pedro, who has been in excellent form recently, looks for a spectacular volley from a looping ball over his shoulder. he fails to connect and lands on his backside.

Don’t worry Pedro. I did that at 5-a-side before dusting myself down and scoring a worldie. I have nobody to confirm this story I’m afraid…

11: Lovely interchange between Pedro and Gonzalo Higuain but the loanee’s effort is blocked by Romain Saiss.

8: Mateo Kovacic and Eden Hazard aren’t on the same wavelength as the Belgian looks for a quick one-two. Kovacic punts it straight to Patricio instead.

5: Cesar Azpilicueta bombs forward down the right channel before cutting the ball inside for Mateo Kovacic to strike. His effort is blocked and Wolves hoof it into orbit.

3: No passing for the sake of it from Chelsea today – quite refreshing to see actually.

The Blues are getting the ball on the deck and playing direct. It looks to have caught Wolves cold.

CHELSEA vs WOLVES

Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante are among the players likely to return for Chelsea after manager Maurizio Sarri rotated his squad in the Europa League.

Sarri has no apparent injury concerns, with defender Antonio Rudiger and striker Gonzalo Higuain also expected to be recalled following Thursday’s 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev. Pedro could retain his starting spot on Sunday after impressing against Kiev, but fellow winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came on to score in that game, may once again have to be content with a place on the substitutes’ bench.

Rui Patricio will return for Wolves after being rested for the win over Cardiff. John Ruddy started to ensure he had some game time before next week’s FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United. Ryan Bennett misses out as he starts a two-game ban after collecting 10 yellow cards with Romain Saiss expected to drop into defence.
