Casualty star Amanda Mealing has confirmed a surprise new love interest for Connie Beauchamp when she returns next year.
Connie left the ED under a cloud in last night’s action-packed episode, after finally telling Charlie the truth about her addiction.
In reality, Connie’s sad departure is due to the fact that Amanda took a break from the show earlier this year, but there is plenty of drama in store for when she returns.
Not only has Amanda promised that Connie will be coming back stronger, but the actress has also teased an exciting new romance for the fan favourite.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Amanda said: “There are hints of romance to come – but it’s not what anyone will think or expect.”
After ruling out a reunion between Connie and her ex-boyfriend Jacob Masters, Amanda continued: “It will be exciting. It’s a really, really good one. I’m really looking forward to it.
“That’s as much as I can say, but I promise you it’ll be really good.”
During the chat, Amanda also backed a reunion for Connie and Jacob and explained why they were split up in the first place.
“I think the viewers love Connie and Jacob and I loved them together, but it was the executive producer who didn’t like it. It was nothing other than that,” she told us.
Casualty continues on Saturday, August 17 on BBC One.
