Kevin Gausman was ejected in the second inning after throwing a pitch behind Marlins pitcher Jose Ureña. The Braves would go on to score five times against Ureña to get their road trip off to a good start with a 7-2 win. Josh Donaldson finished with three hits and drove in three runs while both Freddie Freeman and Brian McCann homered in the win.
Prior to Friday’s game, the Braves recalled Touki Toussaint from Triple-A Gwinnett. Foreshadowing? Maybe as Toussaint was pressed into early action after Gausman’s ejection.

Sinclair Broadcast Group has reached an agreement to buy 21 Fox regional sports network including Atlanta-based Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast from the Walt Disney Company. Disney had acquired the regional sports networks in their purchase of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets. They agreed to sell off the regional networks because the company also owns ESPN and federal regulators felt that it would have given them too much control over the sports television industry. Liberty Media was among the other companies that had expressed interest in acquiring the networks.

The Mets selected the contract of infielder Adeiny Hechavarria and optioned first baseman Dominic Smith on Friday. The New York Post’s Ken Davidoff reports that Hechavarria had triggered the opt-out clause in his minor-league deal and the Mets either had to call him up or allow him to become a free agent. Smith had seen limited chances but was hitting .333/.459/.400 in 37 plate appearances.
The Cincinnati Reds promoted top prospect Nick Senzel on Friday. Senzel made his major league debut in Friday’s game against the Giants.
The Washington Nationals made a change to their coaching staff firing pitching coach Derek Lilliquist and replacing him with minor-league pitching coordinator Paul Menhart.
